Africa, the land of cultural diversity, owns the influence of Arabic and European cultures. With 20% of the global land, it becomes the 2nd largest continent of the world. Sahara Desert

Sahara Desert, the largest desert on planet, covers 11 countries within its boundary. The whole desert is very hot and receives less than 10 inches rain per year. Most of the area consists of sand dunes, which cover more than 5000 ft in height. Mountains are also found in dessert, most of them are volcanic in nature. Emi Koussi has been found the largest one up till now which rises to 11,204ft.

The Kilimanjaro

Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa with 5,895 meters. It has three volcanic cones named, Kibo, Mawenzi and Shira. It is popular via two ways; one it’s the largest free standing mountain in the world and secondly it has 7 peaks in which Uhuru Peak is the highest one. The top of the mountain remains covered with the snow most of the time.

Aldabra Atoll

After Kiritimati Atoll, Aldabra Atoll is the 2nd largest atoll in the world. It encompasses four larger islands namely; Malabar, Grand Terre, Picard and Polymnie and few islands. It has been protected from the human influence but small staff of rangers can always be seen there. It holds the record of housing largest number of giant tortoises. Besides tortoises; barracuda, hawksbill turtles, hammerhead sharks, and mantarays are also seen around the Aldabra Atoll.

Peak of the Furnace

As the name suggests, it will be something hot. Yes Peak of Furnace is one of the most active volcanoes in the world. At 2631 meters the volcano is very active and can be very dangerous, at the time of eruption, for the inhabitants near it. The eruption often takes place but in minimum amount, scientists and the government always keep an eye on its changes.

Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, is located on the borders of Zambia and Zimbabwe. With the width of 1,708 meters and height of 108 it makes the largest sheet of falling water. It faces flood in months from February to May, which results in arise of spray of the falls. The dry season that lasts from September to January results in; rocky face of the falls become dry and bottom of First Gorge becomes visible.
